OriGin Collection by Azulie

Intricate, whimsical and full of movement. Each crane is individually hand folded in fine silver (.999). They are finished to a high polish and in this version, hang from 32mm of sterling silver chain, suspended from handmade sterling silver ear-wires.

The crane earrings come packaged in a black linen covered box and are supplied with a storage bag and anti-tarnish strip.

OriGin – Ori (the art of folding) Gin (silver)

The word, 'origami' is a combination of two words in Japanese: 'ori' which means 'the art of folding' and 'kami' which means 'paper'. For this collection, 'kami' is replaced by 'gin' which is Japanese for 'silver'.

It is believed that Japanese origami began in the 6th century. In Japan, the crane is a mystical creature and is believed to live for a thousand years. As a result, in the Japanese, Chinese and Korean culture, the crane represents good fortune and longevity. The Japanese refer to the crane as the 'bird of happiness'.
